As a recent convert from this year’s Easter Vigil, I have always wanted to veil and also kneel to receive our Lord Jesus at the Eucharist but because I attend the Novus Ordo Mass I’m rather anxious. How can I approach this? My parish priest is a wonderful man of God but I don’t know how he would feel about it. No one in my parish kneels to receive nor veils but there are a few that receive on the tongue.

Any advice would be great, thanks. God bless!!
At my Eastern Orthodox Church we have many standing up to receive Holy Communion yet I will notice someone who will bend on one knee to receive the Lord Jesus. He was a Catholic and he loves to receive the Lord by bending one knee. He was coming to the Orthodox Church because the Orthodox priest was so good to his son before the son died. I thought it was very reverent of him to do this.

Watch any Mass offered by Pope Benedict XVI; you won’t see communion given in the hand.
Possibly so, although I’ve heard different about large-scale outdoor Masses.

The fact remains, though, that in his book ‘The Light of the World’, he states that he has ‘no problem’ with Communion in the hand, and has ‘both given and received that way myself’’.
