Would this be a sin?

A few years back I made my dog lick my feet to tickle myself. I’m feeling kind of guilty about it. Would it constitute a mortal sin?

I highly doubt it. I can’t imagine someone not making it to heaven due to letting their dog tickle their feet.

Which sin are you concerned this would be tied to? I see nothing morally incorrect about having a dog tickle your feet. How did you go about “forcing” your dog to do it?

Yeah did you hold his head against your feet until he licked or just push you feet by his mouth and he decided to lick?

I believe animal cruelty can certainly constitute as a mortal sin in certain situations, but I wouldn’t classify your case as anything more than venial. The fact that you’re unsure of it’s classification as mortal or venial already shows that you lacked full knowledge of whether or not your action was entirely sinful. Plus, unless your dog reacted in a way that clearly evidenced you caused him suffering, it’s almost impossible to judge whether your action was truly “cruel.” If you’re feeling so torn up about it, there’s not harm in confessing it, but I certainly wouldn’t worry about being in a state of mortal sin.

I’m terribly sorry, but I find this more amusing than anything else.

That is the sort of thing where my old Father Confessor would have slapped you on the back of the head, said “don’t do that”, and that would have been the end of it.😛

Your Father Confessor sounds a little like the boss on NCIS.

As far as ‘forcing’ a dog to lick your feet, It does not sound much like a sin. It is nothing like what people do to animals and other people everyday. :D:)😛
