Would using this facial cleanser harm my spiritual life?

From what I can see, no. It seems just to be using a cultural stereotype (Indians being healers) to sell their product. Unless you have really oily skin be careful though, I’ve found products with clay to be REALLY drying.

Some people may laugh at the idea but there are definitely some sketchy products out there in more than just the usual ways. Anyway, if it doesn’t seem to treat your skin well, I would like to suggest using a certain line of products I do if you can afford it because they’re really great, but I don’t wanna look like I sell the stuff so I’m hesitant to share the name. 😛 They’re made in Germany and mostly botanical. I’m kind of crazy about skin care stuff so this stuff just looks kind of cheap and stuff, but I don’t think it poses any spiritual risk.

Also, it’s a mask, not a cleanser, two totally different things. I’m assuming you’re new to the wonderful world of skin care, but again just fyi unless you have super oily skin you may find this to be really really drying and irritating.

It sounds like a name that’s just used for marketing the product.

If you read up about the product, the ingredients actually come from the desert in Death Valley, California. 🙂

I mean I can check out the product that you are talking about. But yea price and availability might be a toll on me. And thanks for your (name removed by moderator)ut about if it poses any spiritual risk even if I sound paranoid. I just want to be careful.

You’re not paranoid. There are companies owned by people who “bless” their products in ways that can prove to be troublesome.

What is your specific skincare problem right now, your (at least approximate) age, and skincare routine like right now? Maybe I can suggest something easier on your budget than the line I was going to.

Well I’m 25. I wash my skin with soap and then I put some lotion. My skin problem though is dark pigments on my back and shoulders maybe because I’m untanned under my shirt. Also have some acne scars.

Oh dear. Well first, and I can’t emphasize this enough, stop using regular soap on your face at the very least. I only use a brightening/pigment-evening bar soap every other time I wash my face, and that’s a temporary situation. Okay…
  1. Stop using soap
  2. Don’t wash your face everyday. Wash it only twice per week at the very most.
  3. For acne scars and prevention/treatment of fine lines, get some Retin A or Tazorac. I use generic Tazarotene I bought very cheaply when I lived in China. If you’re in the US, sadly you must get a prescription and it can be expensive. If you can get it covered by insurance, it’s great. It will keep your skin looking younger and healthier.
  4. If you can’t get that, let me know…
  5. Use a moisturizer with as few ingredients in it as you can. What type will depend on your skin type (oily, dry, sensitive, combination, etc)
For the pigment issues, you’re going to first need to get into the habit of wearing sunscreen to prevent “tanning” (sun damage), otherwise it won’t matter if you treat the spots. Especially wear it on your face, neck, decolette, hands, and wrists.

Depending on your race and how dark the spots are, some “Fair and Lovely” soap from India can be helpful. I’m Caucasian and normally quite fair but have had issues with sun damage darkness on my lower arms and tops of my feet. There are other whitening soaps, creams, etc from Asia and some of them actually work pretty well. An Asian market or grocer will usually sell them or you can buy them online. Make sure to lather the skin and leave the lather on a long time, and to moisturize. It really works. I have a skin whitening cream that I’ll go find if you want the name for something that works for your face.

What is your skin type like, and (if I may ask) your race and natural skin color? It can really make a difference.

I’m a dark Filipino so I don’t think I need the sunscreen because I’m always tanned. And the dark spots I’m thinking may be caused by slight gluten intolerance maybe. However, just in case I need to get a pigment-evening soap bar. I don’t think I can get tazarotene but I’m sure something else will work. So instead of washing my face everyday, I should basically rinse it with water? and I’m a guy btw,

Absolutely not. This healing clay is just playing off a stereotype. This is no different from putting a smiling Italian man with a large mustache on a pizza box, or a smug-looking anthropomorphic jalapeño with a sombrero on some Mexican candy.
