Would you consider this statement irreverent to Our Lord?

While maybe not serious, someone had a status up for their Google Talk a phrase: “The Hero is the next best thing to Jesus”

The Hero is a cellphone that uses Android and such.

I felt it was a bit irreverent and mentioned it to the person (it’s actually the company I work for. Each store uses Google Talk to communicate). They told me it was said by a customer and they apologized and didn’t mean anything of it, which I’m sure is true.

While I feel it wasn’t so serious, it does speak about the level of reverence we have.

Thoughts?
 
I find it irrevant. One should not be comparing Jesus to other people, much less a cell phone.
 
Yes, I find it irreverent. We’re talking about a stupid cell phone, right? A cellphone that will presumably be outdate in a couple of years. To compare THAT to my Lord, who suffered and died on the cross for my sins?

Irreverent yes - but mostly just roll my eyes stupid.
 
One of the college students in my parish (he happens to be autistic) said, “Prayer is the best form of wireless communication.”

I’m not sure if he came up with that or quoted someone, but we liked it.

And yes, I consider the original statement irreverent as well.
 
It is irreverent and also unnecessarily offensive to Christians.
