Would you spend the night in a house that was haunted?

Well, first of all, do you believe that there really are such places? And how comfortable would you be with spending a day and a night there?

I was just watching a documentary called “A Haunting on Potter Street”, so I thought to ask what you CAF folks thought.

Short form answer:no.

There can possibly be demonic presence. Ain’t gonna take that chance. Too chicken, even for a canthrips.

If there is any chance of an actual spiritual presence, then most certainly no. I will not meddle in spiritual evil, and only an evil presence would be involved in a haunting.

I’d wear my blessed four way medal and stay so long as someone else wants to come. Chances are nothing will happen.

Spend a night in a haunted house?

My heart flies right to my throat if I so much as hear a floor creak after watching a horror movie!

But weirdly, I might make an exception for a place in Cape May. Cape May is one of those places where you can’t throw a stone without it landing on something “haunted.” By Cape May standards, I’ve already shopped in haunted stores, ate in a haunted restaurant, spent time in a haunted hotel…
Of course, maybe that’s why - they don’t seem haunted!

Why do infrared cameras seem to capture these unseen entities? Also, I’ve seen evidence that electronic equipment malfunctions in haunted locations…

Talitha then, you are elected to be one of the “volunteers”. One other person can come. Four at most, I think. 🙂 We’ll see.

This one show is pretty freaky, but maybe it’s made up. If not, then … 😮

I will come, and I will bring my rosary beads 🙂 I think if you have strong faith these things can’t touch you …
look to the light become part of the light, look to the other etc…

I already have.
My second career was working with molested/abused/delinquent teens in a group home setting.

I worked shifts that required me to sleep over for a period of 48-72 hours at a clip.

The house was a large 3 story built in the early 1800s, and it had quite a history behind it like a stop in the underground railroad, and supposedly a murder and suicide. It was rumored to be haunted, and in fact there were several staff that quit over that nonsense.

Aside from various noises one would expect from a 200 year old house, and people with overactive imaginations the place is not haunted.

If I was not a strong and powerful hawk, this documentary on the Potter Street Station might be freaking me out.

There seem to be physical manifestations in some supernatural phenomena. The Fatima and Guadelupe Marian apparations are examples. Certainly the dancing sun is likely some electromagnetic, or optical, distortion phenomenon.

That said, in haunted locations, spiritual or demonic activity might physically have electromagnetic signatures. Since we are not privy to what’s actually happening in the material world, we don’t know.

So, yeah, from our Catholic Faith we know that if said “hauntings” are legitimate, it is either holy souls who are in purgatory hanging out for some strange reason or the apparitions are of a diabolical origin.

The true story that the Exorcist was based on included phenomena one could describe as haunting, but I think it was just connected to the boy. (not for sure) A room, for example, would sometimes get very cold. Banging and scratching, I think, could be heard from the walls.

I believe there are places that are haunted. There is one place I’d go that’s local. But I wouldn’t spend a night in a house like the one in The Amityville Horror.

There was a point when I was watching some of those “A Haunting” type shows. One thing that surprised me was the rate at which an exorcism was called. (I’d say 20-25% ended with one during the period I watched.)

And that mentioned, I also found it interesting how those families would go to their Protestant minister who would say, “The Catholics know how to deal with this. Go to them.”
