Would you support a "novelty-free" OF Mass?

Well, yes. What does being vested in the sanctuary have to do with the choir? Why would the choir be in the sanctuary ever?

Nothing.

I have been to masses where the choir and amplified instrumental section shared the sanctuary with the priest during Mass.

A choir should not be stationed in the sanctuary, regardless of skirt length.

in the TLM I go to the priest is the only one distributing communion, it takes no longer than usual. what do you think they did at your church before the EMHCs arrived?

Same happens in two of the OF parishes I attend - ONLY the priest normally distributes Communion. Maybe with the assistance of ONE EMHC at Christmas, Easter or the like (these being the EXTRAORDINARY occasions for which use of EXTRAORDINARY Ministers was contemplated when it was permitted).

Indeed it does not take an unduly long time, nor is it notably a longer process, for that matter. Not when one thinks about the process of the priest giving communion to each of the EMHCs and then they taking up their positions - this procedure of itself takes a long time where there are many EMsHC.

If your parish offered a Sunday Mass in the Ordinary Form - stripped of the most offensive novelties of the last 40 years - would you support it?

For starters, lets say the following features and practices were abolished.

• EMHC’s
• Communion in the hand
• Civilian clothing in the sanctuary
• Altar girls in the sanctuary
• Inappropriate music
• Bad vestments
• Cowardly ushers
• Overbearing greeters
• Hand holding
• Hand shaking
• Hands in the air
• Leaving pews during sign of peace
• Priests sitting around during Mass
• Late arrivals disrupting Mass
• Chatter in church at any time
• Consumption of food or drink in church

Are there other deal breakers which would require you to withhold support?
Are there any of these features or practices which you would wish to retain?

Haven’t read the whole thread, BUT:

I always support saying the black, doing the red. I would far rather go to a nut-free Novus Ordo than a nut-full one.

But if I had equal access to the TLM and to a nut-free Novus Ordo, I’d take the TLM.

Well, I’d definitely add that to the list of features and practices that should be abolished.

I understand not every church can have a choir loft (my own doesn’t), but as a member of the choir, I prefer to be heard and not seen. Visibly leading the congregation in their parts is the Cantor’s job, not mine.
