XLT Adoration?

I was recently invited to something called “XLT Adoration.” As I understand it, it’s “praise and worship” before the Blessed Sacrament. It sounded strange. There’s a lot of music and stuff I guess. I go to Adoration often and it’s always quiet and reverent. Is this XLT thing orthodox? Are there any official Church rules for the proper disposition during Adoration?

XLT, if done properly, is a powerful experience. I have been to a couple. Usually there is praise and worship for about 20 minutes, then a witness talk, after that, there is adoration (in quiet at all the ones I have been to). The Blessed Sacrament is processed in and out after the praise and worship/ witness.

As with all things, it is only as Orthodox as those who lead it.

I think so many people are uncomfortable with silence. The most powerful adoration is to be still. Personally, I don’t think this would be for me. LOL!

I never heard of it but it reminds me of the Youth 2000 retreats from back when. There is music, preaching, basically any manner of “approved” events. The point is that you are there with the Lord, the focus is on the Lord and it can (or I think should be) a beautiful way to spend time with Him if it is done reverently and with the utmost respect (which means maintaining your focus on Christ)

This sounds a lot like something my boyfriend and I have gone to a few times at a local parish. Its specifically geared for college students (we live in a college town) and it has been pretty powerful for both of us. I think it has played a large role in our journey toward the Catholic Church (helping us get a lot closer to actually becoming Catholic).

Haha, this was one of my first threads ever

I went and it was awesome–the praise and worship style for the first third wasn’t really my style, but the priest’s talk on the Real Presence was amazing–and then the last third was tradtional Adoration and Benediction–it really drove home the power and reality of the Real Presence for the young people and helped them appreciate this treasure Our Lord has left us.

I never heard of “XLT Adoration”.

I once went to a Praise and Worship by Charismatic group and before the praise and worship time, they had the Eucharistic Adoration, and after that they had music - sounds like what you described.

The music was too loud for me.
