At Mass yesterday in the Archdiocese of Chicago, all the faithfull were asked in a letter from our Cardinal to fill out a set of postcards to be sent to our senators, asking them not to use Roe v Wade as a litmus test on Judicial Nominations. Lines formed quickly at the tables in the community center! 👍

Cool, would that more Priests, Bishops and Cardinals took this approach to encouraging legislators in things that affect the moral compass of our nation.

Thank goodness we have leaders like Cardinal George.
I heard he is the MOST bright of all USA Cardinals, and the most respected in Rome. He is sure MY favorite!!! Holy Father, name him to be the Archbishop of New York!!

Hey, I am not familiar with Cardinal George’s writing and scholastic apptitude, but I would hesitate on the “most respected in Rome” as I believe one of the American Cardinals spent a while in Romeworking with indivudlas such as John Paul II. Thanks and God Bless.

i got to attend a mass in st. john’s basilica in rome that cardinal george said. he used to be our archbishop before he was named cardinal (portland archdiocese). at that mass in rome (for world youth day 2000) he said “i hear there’s some people here from the archdiocese of chicago.” cheers then he said “and i hear there’s also some people here from the archdiocese of portland.” more cheers

Oh how I wish we had Cardinal George here. We have a few priests and bishops that need to get the boot and he sounds like he would be the one to do it.

I doubt he would be the one.

He’s an interesting guy. When he first started in Chicago, he was much more into trying to correct all the abuses at different parishes, and such. I think lately he has been very busy with other matters, and is also a bit frustrated at some of the resistance he meets. So I think he’s developing a different pastoral style to deal with such things. Although he can have a tough edge, he’s not really one to give anybody the boot.

In my experiences with him, he is a good and holy man, and is totally devoted to Christ and his Church, and to his priesthood. A great intellect, he will answer your questions in full paragraphs, fully and carefully articulating Catholic doctrine in a very orthodox way, and yet often from a very different intellectual approach than you would hear on Catholic Answers or EWTN. And he loves a good joke.

His management of the finances of the Archdiocese of Chicago have been less than stellar, but that’s a totally different topic.

Is that a polite way of saying he lacks the fortitude?

I too am from the Archidocese of Portland where Cardinal George (then Archbishop George) was prior to his appointment to Chicago.
There is something very, very special about this man.
He confirmed our daughter when he was here and it was an experience I and our daughter and our family will never, ever forget. The Mass was nearly 2 hours long - yet, no one wanted to leave! There was such an incredible feeling of holiness and joy in that church that you wanted it to go on and on. I turned to my husband and told him that I believe (then) Archbishop George could be Pope one day! He has that aura and presence about him.

Chicago - you are blessed!!!
