"Year of Mercy - the great Extraordinary Jubilee"

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

How our world needs the Light of Christ and true understanding of His Mercy! The Church is sent into the world to be His Light and hopefully this Year of Mercy will bring us all new graces and blessings. I found an interview on Zenit in which Cardinal Piacenza was asked to explain “Julilee”:

ZENIT: We are now at the doors of the great Extraordinary Jubilee proclaimed by Pope Francis. Could you explain what a Jubilee Year is?

Cardinal Piacenza: A Jubilee is an “apocalyptic” time, in the etymological sense of the term; a time, that is, of “revelation” of the true Reality, of the new meaning and value that Christians confer on human life, on the “present time.”

In Hebrew antiquity, the Jubilee consisted of a year, every 50 years, opened by the sound of a ram’s horn – in Hebrew yobel – during which this “novelty” of life was awaited, with symbolic and concrete gestures, a time of rest for the earth, the restitution of confiscated land and the liberation of slaves. However, it is only in Christianity that this rest, this reconciliation, this liberation finds full and definitive fulfilment!

In fact Christianity – that is the coming of Christ into the world and into history, the clothing of the Son of God in our poor humanity – conferred on time a new value, an infinite value! From the time that God became Man, died and resurrected, every instant has become an “occasion” of the relationship with Him, of the living and vivifying Encounter with Him, and of the offer to Him of one’s life. Therefore, the Jubilee Year is a year in which our time, understood in the chronological sense, is as though “absorbed” into another measure of unity, that of grace. In a Jubilee Year, the Church as loving Mother does her utmost to multiply the “occasions of grace,” especially in regard to the remission of sins, through Sacramental Confession! To symbolize this entry into a time of special grace, the rite of the beginning of the Jubilee is carried out: the opening of the Holy Door… (underlining is mine for emphasis)

We certainly need a year of mercy.

With the Luciferians attempting to open a church in Spring, TX on October 30, the Year of Mercy may help block off the evil that is coming.

Sounds like the devil is spreading like a termite infestation and Orkin can’t get rid of him. But maybe, if we are lucky, God, through His mercy will put a stop to it.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, we certainly need a “Year of Mercy” to help us focus on the Lord’s great Love for us, and incidentally Lucifer’s hatred for us, as Mary’s children. God told the serpent in Genesis 3:15:

I will put enmity between you and the woman,
and between your offspring and hers…

We can’t be surprised that the evil one continues to prowl around seeking whom he may devour (cf 1 Peter 5). Nevertheless we know that God is more powerful than the devil and Jesus has already won the victory for us. The evil we see around us and experience tempting us is only temporary, because there will come a last day when God will wipe away every tear in heaven for those who have fought the good fight here on earth.

In the meantime, let us gratefully and lovingly look to Jesus and say with all our hearts: “Jesus I trust in You!”. Let us thank Him for the gift of Mary our Mother and continue to pray the beautiful prayer Jesus taught us, “Our Father…deliver us from evil” and also the prayer to Mary given to us: “…Holy Mary, Mother of God pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen”

An interesting part of the interview for me was reading both what mercy is not, and what mercy is. Part 2 of the interview is tomorrow.
