Does Yeshua mean James in Aramaic?
Why are the names switchable?Yeshua = Joshua = Jesus
Jacob = Jacobos = James
Different languages.Why are the names switchable?
Yeshua is Jesus’ name in Hebrew and possibly in Aramaic as well .Does Yeshua mean James in Aramaic?
Because people speak different languages.Why are the names switchable?
Actually, the Italian version is Giacomo, which could go either way.Different languages.
Although Jacobos is Jacob… I think the KJV boys made it James in honor of… well. King James.
And with James and Jacob, they are both English names originating from the Latin Iacobus, from the Hebrew Yaa’kov (heel-grabber). It just seems to be traditional in English Bibles to refer to Jacob in the OT and James in the NT. In German they’re both Jakob, and in French Jacques.Why are the names switchable?
