Apparently there is some guy in suburban Chicago pulling the feeding tube from his wife. It made brief mention on one of the radio news stations, but I can’t find anything about it online.
I can’t help you there, but be assured this is being done all the time in hospitals and nursing homes across the nation. The majority of the medical community appears to advocate it. Better get a “Will to Live”, state your wishes clearly about when and under what conditions you wish to receive artificially administered nutrition and hydration, name someone you trust to make decisions for you when you cannot, give that person a copy and make sure he clearly understands your desires. One can go online and download the “Will to Live” from the National Right to Life’s website. Persons in a so-called Persistant Vegative Condition are not dying. The Church teaching is clear, as long as nutrition and hydration are able to be utilized by the person, even if they must be delivered artificially, it is immoral to deny them.Apparently there is some guy in suburban Chicago pulling the feeding tube from his wife.
