Is this just me or is this a Catholic Mass in York Minster (Cathedral)

From Roman Catholic Diocese of Middlebrough.
If it is. About time Catholics returned to York Cathedral. He He
Doesn’t look to be; the twin tabs on several clerics imply CoE “High Church” (aka Anglo-Catholic) Mass.

Further, priests sitting in choir with women between them, this implies married priests and their wives.

Further, a priest carrying the book of the Gospels when there are deacons present is forbidden by the GIRM.

Also the use of tunicles on the subdeacons; the Roman church has no subdeacons as a general rule, and the few who there are (FSSP and ICRS) wear maniples, which are lacking here.

Further, one of the priests is vested as a presbyterian minister, and his stole has scots heraldry, bears the English crown above the garter, and within appears to have the arms of the Church of Scotland.

Further, know that the Carmelites in the UK divided over remaining Catholic (as did several other orders of monastics)…

**There is no reason for the clergy to have their wives with them in choir at a liturgical gathering.

This is clearly NOT a “choir” but a gathering of knights and dames of some chivalric order or other.

And French Catholic priests at one time wore preaching tabs, too. It’s not necessarily a Protestant thing.**

This is a Catholic Mass…the Minster was loaned to Catholics for the day…just a correction…at the Reformation, All religious orders in England were abolished in 1538.

This was a celebration of the 800th anniversary of the establishment of the Carmelite way of life, held in 2007 at York Minster. The “Chivalric Order” mentioned appears to be Knights and Ladies of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre, judging by their garb.
