You ever just have days where you fall into sin and temptations so hard you almost haphazardly pray?

I sinned yesterday and I felt guilt and bad that I didnt even kneel in prayer before sleeping, I just said my prayers as I walked around my room and prepared to sleep. Same thing this morning. Idk if you can call it “taking shortcuts” or just not being enthusiastic but you still offer your prayer and intentions for God and it would still be better than not praying at all right?

Right! Some times you experience emotions and sometimes it it rather dry. It seems to me that prayer is an an act of the will. It is done, not for what I get out of it, but what I offer to God who deserves our praise, thanks, and worship.

I’m not sure what your question is. Is it prayer while standing up & walking around is better than no prayer at all? I think it is but why not just kneel and ask for forgiveness? Then get to reconciliation as soon as possible? It seems as if you are struggling with rebelliousness? Which of course is a lifelong condition in our relationship with God? I struggle all the time but find kneeling right away, whether I want to or not, has a lot of therapeutic value as well as helps me get down to the right size.

You should always, always, always pray. In fact, when you have sinned is precisely when you need to be praying. Just do the best you can. It’s like having a bad day when you’re dieting, or training for a race. It will get better and you’ll be glad you hung in there.

Keep praying! I have days like this…and it’s even worse when I’m being scrupulous because I’m tempted to not pray. It’s like I’ve already messed up so I might as well just not pray at all.

I’m convinced the devil wishes us to stop praying completely. And I think his biggest tool (in my life) is condemnation in my thoughts. I know Christ is merciful, but often I see Him more as a law giver than as love. I have heard that the Spirit never condemns harshly, but that even when we fail it is peaceful and encouraging. I also look to how Christ dealt with people in the Gospels and notice that if they were sincerely trying to follow Him, He was always merciful. This goes counter to my thoughts of, “you messed up…would a Christian really do that?”

Trust in His Mercy is key for me, so I keep praying no matter what.

I think a lot of us tend to avoid God after we sin. It’s like when Peter said, “Depart from me Lord, I am a sinful man.” For me, when I do that I try to remember what St. Therese said. She said, that even if she had committed all the sins in the world she would still run to God and throw herself into his arms trusting in his love and mercy.
