I hope you are right. Personally, given the stupidity, greed, and arrogance of man, I wouldn’t bet on it. The Terminator series portrays a frightening possibility.
Then again, given my age, I’m not going to be around in 2045, so, I really don’t have a dog in the fight.

Whether AI is a true threat I the future depends on who we become by then. Obviously, a sentient AI will have be ability to be a threat analogous to how the average man’s is a threat to the average woman.

Once an AI is developed, it is then exposed to various data or tasks in order to learn. So far, a lot of the AI that have been exposed to the pubic end up becoming racist and/or sexist. Adding that with some form of sentience would basically be the turning our bias and emotions into a sentient being.

AI will be the beginning of the end. A lot of people will start to date AIs instead of people.
