Anybody here read "YouCat"by Christoph Schönborn before? It’s aimed towards youth for better understanding of the original Catechism. I’m an adult (21) but needed it in a different format to understand the basics at least before I start RCIA classes in September using the actual Catechism of The Catholic Church which is a bit advanced for me right now.

It was recommended to me on a Catholic group on FaceBook and I went ahead and ordered myself a copy.

I’m only few pages in but I’m liking it a lot so far. I think I will learn a lot from it. 🙂

I think it provides a very good opportunity to teach the youth about Catholicism.

We use the YouCat in RCIA instruction for teenagers who were not in CCD.

I’m a middle-aged cradle Catholic and I enjoy reading books like the YouCat because they can be read like a devotional, hitting the highlights of the Faith. They hold my interest at times when I’m tired or rushed and don’t feel ready to tackle deep, complicated spiritual reading. My book budget is tight, so imagine how delighted I was a couple weeks ago or so to find a YouCat at the thrift bookstore, the one from World Youth Day, and in perfect condition, for a dollar! :extrahappy:

My son received one for confirmation from the Diocese. We will continue to use the Baltimore Catechism.

I prefer the Youcat over the Baltimore Catechism. The Youcat is not as strict in its tone.

I enjoy the YouCat, both for teaching my children and refreshing my personal faith =)
