Your best argument against masturbation and porn

This not counseling, this is completely different, but I want to hear some arguments that destroy this sins temptations.

So many people are addicted due to this, it is a favorite of the evil one, so today let’s declare war against it, the early church fought sin by preaching to the public, so where else to go at the moment but online where people are free to do it whenever they want.

How I will fight it
  • Leave Bible verses in YouTube comments
  • Get others to help
  • Put st Benedict medals in public
You may have this sin, I know I do. We can all fight these temptations with the intercession of the blessed virgin Mary. We won’t be able to completely end it for these lost souls but we can save many souls. God will help you if you have Charity, let’s all help and don’t expect anything in return and we can be like vases with which God uses to pour out grace

My best argument: it’s an incredible waste of time that sucks a person away from real life.
 
my best argument against it is, if you play with it too much, it’ll fall off.
 
Over indulgence may contribute to desensitization, making intimacy with real people more difficult.
 
Unless said smart man enjoys fires. or needs the fire to stay alive in the winter.

From a religious or non religious point of view?

I helped a boy out of these sins. I mentioned that the women in dirty pics are someone’s daughter. There was more I said and done but just an example.

If a person really knows and understands the teachings of the Church on this then prayer and self-discipline are all that is needed.

CCC 2352 By masturbation is to be understood the deliberate stimulation of the genital organs in order to derive sexual pleasure. “Both the Magisterium of the Church, in the course of a constant tradition, and the moral sense of the faithful have been in no doubt and have firmly maintained that masturbation is an intrinsically and gravely disordered action.” “The deliberate use of the sexual faculty, for whatever reason, outside of marriage is essentially contrary to its purpose.” For here sexual pleasure is sought outside of “the sexual relationship which is demanded by the moral order and in which the total meaning of mutual self-giving and human procreation in the context of true love is achieved.”

CCC 2354 Pornography consists in removing real or simulated sexual acts from the intimacy of the partners, in order to display them deliberately to third parties. It offends against chastity because it perverts the conjugal act, the intimate giving of spouses to each other. It does grave injury to the dignity of its participants (actors, vendors, the public), since each one becomes an object of base pleasure and illicit profit for others. It immerses all who are involved in the illusion of a fantasy world. It is a grave offense. Civil authorities should prevent the production and distribution of pornographic materials.

It subverts the natural order of human generation, and as such it is an offense directly against the Creator Who designed this power. That’s the basic argument.

Another point to consider: the person you are looking at has parents, hopes and dreams, an immortal soul… maybe he or she is even already be dead, rotting in the ground.

My standard advice on chastity:

There are monitoring programs (like Covenant Eyes) that can help with controlling electronic media. You could try using that with a trusted friend or mentor. Other than that, you need to put distance between yourself and the occasion of sin - keep windows and doors open, take cold showers, reduce (or eliminate temporarily) alcohol use around certain people/in certain situations, etc. Laughing more is also helpful, especially in the moment of temptation (rational delight filling the body - so watch more comedy!) as is fasting and other mild discomfort which distracts the body (holding your breath, biting your tongue, etc.)… just getting up and walking around can also give the space and time necessary to get a grip. Exercise also helps, in various ways, also in the moment… distracting and exhausting the body. Instinctively praying a decade of the rosary (meditating especially on one of the sorrowful mysteries) or singing a verse of a pious hymn will also create the time and strength of will you need to do what is right. Meditate also in the moment on the imminence of death, and always ask for the help of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Joseph… and ask the Lord always for the help you need. Go to confession as needed, then return to receiving Holy Communion.

Make it clear. Masturbation is self-stimulation that is physical, by means of some external object, or psychic, by means of thoughts and the imagination. The first step is to avoid the near and voluntary occasion of sin. The second is to thwart any dwelling on sexual pleasure. In marriage all thoughts and acts that are sexually exciting are to be engaged in together not independently.

Modern Catholic Dictionary states “The sinfulness consists in setting in motion the generative powers while preventing them from achieving, their natural, divinely intended purpose.”
