Early on in our married life we had a very large Alaskan Malamute dog named Thunder. Thunder was something like 130# of muscle/fangs & claws, but was the most loving dog I’ve ever had the pleasure of owning*** (or do dogs own us?).

Anyway, my lovely wife set a frozen turkey in the kitchen sink to thaw. It was a LARGE turkey, as we were having family coming for dinner the next day. Well we need to go to the store for some additional food, or spices, or something else? But for whatever reason, we had to leave the house. Not even thinking that the dog might do something while we were out, we left for the store.

Upon are return we found our turkey, or perhaps its better described as a bare carcass, on our living room carpet. Yup, good old Thunder got that bird, plucked it out of the sink, carried his prize into the livingroom and ate the better part of it.

Fortunately we were able to get a replacement bird and had our dinner, as planned. We locked the dog up while that turkey was within reach . . . much to his dismay.

Well, I have another one…

We were out of wine  so my mother and I were going to go to the store for more before dinner was ready…it was Minnesota, and as I stepped out the front door I slipped and promptly slid down the walkway and all the way under the car and out the other side!

My mother laughed so hard she had to run in and use the bathroom LOL!
The night wasn’t finished tho…when we got to the store, she had to wait in line for quite awhile, and when we got home we discovered her husband hadn’t watched the pots very well-all the water boiled out of the potatoes and there was serious CHAR goin’ on in that mash!!!😛

We were newly married and living in an apartment. It had a little tiny oven that I did not think about when I bought a 20 lb. turkey:rolleyes: You could get half the turkey in but the door wouldn’t shut. I cooked it for 5 hours one way then I turned it around and cooked the other end for another 5 hours, it was ready by 6pm. I still can’t believe we ate it without getting sick.

Oh and my father accidently threw the **defosted **turkey back in the freezer to make room for something else in the fridge, the day before Thanksgiving. Boy my mom was mad! They had to buy a fresh one !
