For the most part the LDS I’ve encountered online and IRL have all implied that I should just listen to them, hear their side, to promote understanding. But they do not believe they need to reciprocate. They are convinced they have a perfect understanding of non LDS Christians of any stripe. The missionaries job is not to listen to you so don’t do any talking, just listen (for the understanding you know). Those on line are just here to make LDS beliefs clear, you should not counter with any of your beliefs (they’re just trying to promote understanding). It’s all a one way conversation or you are an Anti-Mormon.Most of the time, zerinus is willing to discuss the LDS faith. He may get testy or short, but he will discuss. He has been very helpful to me more than once. I do not agree with his theology, but I respect him none the less.
Many posters on here are simply frustraited. WE do not ask to be interrupted at home by a couple of well-intentioned but zelous kids telling us that our faith is wrong. I go home to be at home, away from people that are not family. We get frustraited because we are told things by people that the Mormons beleive and we get the run-around. Or we are told that we cannot appriciate the nuances. Or that we have no idea what in the hell we are talking about and we are persicuting them. Or whatever.
Mormons want to be allowed to practice their faith. This has not always been allowed through the years. That is not acceptable. However, if they want freedom to practice, we should be able to ask about issues that we see without automatically being called attackers.
