Your Cut-Off Threshold?

Over on another thread, Jerok posted the interesting question of “What is a Christian?” I want to modify that somewhat and ask:

Assuming a given church officially espouses the Nicene and Apostles Creeds, (1) what sorts of things would you yourself consider sufficient cause nonetheless for not again attending that church? (Example: I used to travel a lot, so would try out different churches; once, I walked straight out of a church where a woman “minister” stepped up into the pulpit, and another church where I attended 3x, I discontinued when they put a [very likeable, so it was nothing personal on my part] older woman in as one of the elders [no, not a deacon, which wouldn’t have posed a problem for me].)

(2) What is the longest you ever endured worshipping at a place that suffered from major deficits (even tho they held to the N. & A Creeds)? (For me it was 6 years.)

Please note: this particular thread is not intended as a place to proselytize, so please don’t start debating or trying to “re-educate” people whose views you disagree with. I’m just genuinely curious about what others besides myself are willing to tolerate in the place where they worship. 1. Not having legitimate sacraments or communion with Rome.
2. Four years? But that was before I was Catholic. I didn’t consider it to have major deficits.

If there were no Catholic or Orthodox churches in an area where I was living, I would still attend the best possible church to have some sort of link to Christianity. I would not attend a church if it denied the consubstantiality of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. I’d probably put up with anything else for awhile, though.

(Prior to becoming Catholic)

1)Believe it or not - the faith and works ‘debate’. Then, I came to see that the works of that church also did not correspond well with the faith it proclaimed. I did not leave alone.

1. Nine years. It took awhile for some things to become clear and ‘serious enough’, my son was confirmed there, I was active in the music ministry of the church, etc. It was a matter of time, and the ‘last straw’. It was a sad situation. There are good people there, and I am still asked to come back and play for weddings and funerals, which I do.
