Okay, my husband and I watched Oklahoma the other night because he had never seen it before. So, that got me thinking about my favorite Rodgers and Hammerstein musical and I thought I’d post a poll and ask everyone.

So, what’s your favorite Rodgers & Hammerstein Musical and why?

(I hope I didn’t forget any in the poll)

I like them all but have to say Oklahoma because it was our senior class play and I of course was Ado Annie.

Cinderella! It used to run on TV every year - and I’d sit there and watch it and sing every song. Someday, I may break down and buy the DVD…

The first time we met, I loved you
I looked up when you came through the door
My head started reeling It gave me the feeling
The room had no ceiling or floor…

I enjoy Broadway Musicals, but I selected “The Sound of Music” for it was our Senior Year musical.

“Good bye! Good bye! Good Byyyyyyeee. Good Bye.”

I voted for all of them…they are all too good not to get my vote!

I love them all except maybe Oklahoma, Carousel and Cinderella but I chose Flower Drum Song. I was sorry that State Fair wasn’t listed. I love that one too.

I love The Sound of Music and Cinderella equally!:yup: They are all great but those two are my favorite’s.

The King and I and The Sound of Music. My parents took me to see the King and I (with Yule Brenner) when I was a kid and I absolutely loved it.

I remember watching The Sound of Music on TV .It came on about once a year when I was a kid. We now own it on video and our daughter just loves it. Last year I got the King and I on Dvd for Christmas.

Yeah, sorry I missed that one. The polls only allow for seven options. I like State Fair, too.

I chose Sound of Music because I have seen it year after year and have become so familiar with the music.

Cinderella has also become a favorite.

Haven’t seen the others through, just snippets here and there. But probably my favorite song is Oklahoma. That just seems to me what a musical should be. BIG!

I love South Pacific – particularly “Bali Ha’i.”

My second choice is The King and I, closely followed by Sound of Music.

My son was in Oklahoma last year, and I played the role of Nettie in Carousel when I did community theater (in the dark ages), but I don’t particularly care for either of those.

Sound of Music (the movie) is my wife’s favorite. She was raised in a strict Protestant home that would not allow the viewing of movies. When she left home as a young adult, this was the first movie she saw. She also says the song “I Must Done Something Good” was written just for us. So Sound of Music is my favorite, too.

I voted Sound of Music - I got to play the Mother Superior and sing Climb Every Mountain…whew…
