Hi,

I graduate now from the University, and from next year I will be teacher at high School. (Latin, Catholic Theology, German, Business English). I am from a central eurpean Country Austria.
I have a Little strange Question, but beforahand i have to write my Story.
At my high School age I learned English from Baptist Missionars. At These English lessons usually we laerned English with bible stories. At in the summer break they Always organisad camps, we had to pay only a few Money for that, and other baptist missionar from the US came for 7-10 days as well. In the Mornings we lareend Ebnglish here with bible stories as well, in the afternnon we played Sports, watched moied etc, and we had lectures for example lectures About the dangorousurs of the drugs. And the participants , who was later into the bapstist chruch, tehy coudl go to the US for 1-2 weeks for similar programs- Basically These camps were very good, I enjoyed the, too, but
i was distant with religious part, ebcause i have been strong catholcic already that time, but some participants was so amazed, that they “converted” some Atheist bacame Batist beleiver, but (unfortunately) some concetted from the Catholic church to Batists church. (People as well, with whom i was together alterboys)

So My Question is, if someone knows, if similar Catholic “education” camps programs exist in the USA (or anywhere else in the wordl) As Catholic thelogy teachers i see great chanched at the missin in the Field. I think such summer programs could be organizated from Catholic side as well.
For example in the morning english (or any other language lesson ) with Bible Stories or About the life of the Saints. In the Afternoon Sports, at the late aternon pary togerther like Rosary, holy mass, Maybe some Basic latin lessons, in the evening movies About t siants, Jesus, church history etc…

Does someone an Catholic organiaztaion, who organ isate simklar programs? or someone knows Ctaholic Organization/catholci School/ Catholic Theology teacher who who get engaged to this program?

I am really into to the youth pastoral, so i was really happy, if i could we coudl do similar Things from Catholic side as well.

FOCUS is a great organization that aims to evangelize high school and university students!

The Benedictines (seems worldwide) have started something called Klosterzeit which is similar to the German “Social year”. Social work, health care and education are possible and keeping close contact with the Benedictines during the 6-12 months.

Bonifatiuswerk in Germany have something similar and there have been several from that organisation doing practical work like parish, elderly and helping out in organisations and convents in the Northern European countries. I know several women from that organisation and Bonifatiuswerk has been a great help to the Catholic Church in Sweden both with funding new church buildings and buying old and transform them into Catholic churches and also with sending “praktikanten”.

If you contact your diocese and/or some of the religious orders then I think you can get a start there.

I don’t know about any academic camps, other than week long university visits (usually titled “Summer Experience”) at a faithful catholic university (see this list for faithful Catholic universities: Recommended Colleges - Cardinal Newman Society) this said, Franciscan University of Steubenville (on the list) has created a series of Summer Conferences (retreats) (steubenvilleconferences.com) which each have a week long program (called L.E.A.D.) beforehand one can apply to attend which goes further in developing one’s faith.
