Youth group on the Crucifixion

A friend and I were asked to host a youth group with the topic being the crucifixion. We have NO idea what to do or even where to start. Any ideas? It has to be about 2 hours long, a room full of high school kids and discussion is encouraged.

Can you show the Passion movie? Is the group Catholic or just Christian?

i would explain how Christ died for our sins, possibly using the Stations as a guide. I would also include Old Testament prophesies regarding Christ’s death. I hope this goes well. Ask Saint Paul, Saint Justin, and Saint John Chrysostom to pray for you.

I agree, show the Passion movie.
No one walks away from that without some grasp of what the Crucifixion was.
Of course it is a movie and cannot come close to transmitting the depth of Jesus’ feelings thru it all, but Gibson did a terrific job of getting the basic message across.
So buy it, it is a good investment. I make a point to watch it at least once a year during Lent, lest i forget…

Thanks for responding I will most definitely pray. We thought about showing the Passion, but a majority of the kids also attend confirmation and all the classes just got finished watching it. So we don’t want to repeat it…we want to try something new to get the message across from a different angle. The prophesies is a good idea…we might just do that

Why don’t you do the seven last words of Jesus from the cross. You could divide the kids into groups each taking one of the phrases, and they can explore what it means and then report back to the entire group.
