First I hope I’ve posted in the correct sub-forum 😉

I was wondering how Youth participation in the Catholic Church is doing for you guys in America and Europe with the current wave of secularization and negative publicity. How are the numbers? Do they attend mass?

Here in Tanzania as in most African countries youth participation is very healthy. They attend mass and are involved in church activities and extracurricular activities from pre-school till university.

Would like to hear the current situation and experiences from your shores. Thanks.

In my little part of the USA, I find that youth, especially teens are over-involved in sports, school, band, drama, etc. that they have little time for Church. Some of them are truly exhausted and stressed by all the activities. They have good hearts, but if parents don’t see the value of one more activity like Bible Study or Youth Group, they don’t show up. We are going to start a Teen Bible Study this October. I will feel it is successful if we can get 5 people to come regularly. We will see. God is Good!
