YouTube and Lust?

When is a Youtube video an occasion of sin?

If, for example, there is an extremely gorgeous girl in a music video that is not graphic, but perhaps somewhat immodest (or at least “provocative”) is it okay to watch so long as I control my thoughts? What if I become aroused, yet manage to keep from having lustful thoughts?
 
You should avoid near occasions of sin and things which might tempt you into sin. This situation easily classes as those. It seems as if you are just trying to rationalise doing something you know in your heart you should not be doing.
 
No, I recognize that it is probably imprudent to view videos that cause temptation. However I’ll say two things: 1.) the video was not at all graphically immodest. It was more or less akin to watching a college cheerleading squad. And 2.) I was very confident that I could avoid lusting. When I actually started to come close to lusting (getting aroused), I turned off the video and then later came back to it to hear the song, not watch the girl.

Ultimately I turned the whole thing off not wanting to deal with temptation. The question is, however, is placing myself in that sort of an occasion of sin a mortal sin? That’s really what I’m wondering.

Oh okay, you explain it slightly better here. I think it was just the way it was phrased.

As someone wisely told me when I asked a ‘mortal or not’ questions told me “It cannot be a Mortal Sin because you are not sure. Mortal Sin requires absolute certainty.” This is very true. You were probably imprudent to keep watching the video when you saw it might cause lusting - even if you think you can avoid it remember that we are but weak humans. But on the other hand you did the right thing turning the video off. You didn’t commit a mortal sin but you might want to be more cautious in the future.
