Hello brothers.

I wonder if these are liturgical abuses.
  1. Never makes the genuflexión at the end of enshrining bread or at the end of enshrining the wine.
  2. If there is extraordinary Minister of communion (secular) the feel and not communion.
3 Always changes the Church word “community”. Eg: “not tomes into account our sins if not the faith of your community”.
In Christ and Maria hugs.

Note: I do not know write well in English: D

The priest should genuflect after the consecration of the bread and wine. If he is unable to (because of age, injury, etc.), he should make a profound bow (a bow of the body). The congregation should kneel during the consecration; if they can’t kneel for some reason, they should also make a profound bow when the priest genuflects or bows.

I cannot understand this one. Could you ask it in your native language?

No priest has the right to change the words of the prayers. The example you gave – “Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church” – is supposed to be said as it is written, “Church” not “community”.

Muchas gracias. 🙂

Me refiero a que si hay Ministros Extraordinarios de la Sagrada Comunión, el sacerdote no da la comunión a los fieles. Él se sienta y deja a los MESC que den la comunión.

The priest must distribute Holy Communion. He may not sit down and let EMHCs do this for him.

yeah,maybe that

Sure, a priest should genuflect if possible, failing that he should bow, but we have to remember our priests are generally getting older and more and more of them unable to either genuflect OR bow without great difficulty.

Again with the distribution of communion - if a priest is unable, by reason of infirmity, to stand for long enough to distribute communion, then it surely would be acceptable to have EMsHC do the distribution instead.

And while I’ve seen some priests who, when ill, take the time to explain to the congregation why they may be sitting down, not genuflecting or bowing or what have you, ultimately their health concerns are, I feel, not really any of our business on such occasions. We as a congregation are not automatically owed an explanation for anything that happens at Mass that may be out of the norm.

Years ago at a weekday mass the priest signaled me to come forward, gave me the ciborium an went and sat down. I felt that he was in charge and must know what he was doing; so did as he asked.

He later explained to me that he was feeling very ill that morning but there was no one else to do the mass so he came. However by Communion time he just couldn’t stand any longer and needed a rest to complete the mass.

The only problem was with one lady who was shocked when she got to me and found no priest was giving Communion. She left without receiving. She later assured me that she had no objection to me; she just couldn’t receive from anyone but a priest. I was just sorry that she missed receiving Communion.

such a loving a charitable thing to do… all of you who responded in Spanish! you warmed my heart!
