"Христос Воскрес" Pascha Basket Cover Question - Ladies help!

Every year I celebrate 2 New Years celebrations: one American and the other the Lunar New Year with my husband’s family.

This year I am celebrating two Easters. First, because I was brought up in the Latin Rite. Second, I will be celebrating with my Ukrainian step brother, Orthodox (he observes the Great Lent. My father did the same).

I am making a Pascha basket, and think I have everything listed and will be ready to go when the time cones.

I am now embroidering a redwork basket cover. It came pre-printed with eggs, ***** willow, and a border design. It really is on beautiful fabric. However,

QUESTION 1:

It’s not the wide woven cloth like you’d see on a regular rushnyk. It’s almost like damask silk. So, is there a “right” or “wrong” material (using the damask), or are my good intentions enough?

QUESTION 2:

The pre-printing does not say any of the following:

Христос Воскрес!
Christos Voskrese!
Chrystus Zmartwychwstał!
Хрыстос уваскрос!
.
…or even anything in English, such as “He is Risen!” There is just an XB symbol over the motif. So…would that “XB” symbol be enough to represent “Христос Воскрес?” Should I start a new project or add the lettering for “Христос Воскрес!” somewhere on there?

If you’re being ambitious, the whole call-response would make a nice border treatment:

ХРИСТОС ВОСКРЕС! ВОІСТИНУ ВОСКРЕС!

CHRIST IS RISEN! HE IS RISEN INDEED!

The ХВ might make a nice center if embellished a bit.

I’ve seen both before.

Good intentions and nicely done are appropriate enough. Remember, however, that this is THE defining feast of the Church.

Remember also: you can always embellish more later!

First, let me humbly apologize that I asked for help from ladies. It was a sexist statement, as I’ve receive both public and private replies from only men.

This cover needs to be done in a hurry (obviously) so if it’s not done, I’ll buy a pretty cross-stitched one. If I have the time, I will hand write in the proper phrases and redwork over the writing. Thanks to all who responded! It means a lot.
