It’s interesting to me that in an effort to not appear Islamophobic, legislation enacted to combat Islamic extremism inevitably is turned on Christians. To some extent that’s even true with the New Atheist movement. My understanding is that anti-religion, anti-theist sentiment was kick started after 9/11. The movement is, in some ways, a reaction to Islamic extremism but is disproportionately experienced by Christians.

I do find it encouraging to know that the British secular society is also opposed, but perhaps that’s because they recognize that there are quite a few things said by the Atheist communion that might run afowl of anti-extremism laws.
