** ‘Naked’ anti-church protestors arrested**
FOUR students were arrested after participating in an anti-Catholic protest at a chapel at a Madrid university. During the protest some of the approximately 50 youths stripped off naked down to their waist. The chapel is located on the campus of the Universidad Complutense Somosaguas in Madrid.

Those arrested were two girls and two boys, and more arrests are expected, a police spokesman said.

The students, from the Faculty of Politics and Sociology, are accused of ‘crimes against freedom of conscience and religious sentiment.’ The complaint had been filed by the pastor of the chapel and several parishioners present at the time.

May God have mercy on them. I hope they are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
 
How strange :confused: I don’t know why people do these things. It would be like wearing indecent clothing into a church just to raise eyebrows. rolling eyes. Some people just need attention, I swear. Indecent exposure, much?

The church invasion, involving 50-70 students, was part of a campus-wide protest against the Catholic Church. Here is the earlier thread which discussed it:

I’m glad some arrests have been made. I hope they catch some of the other culprits, too.
 
I remember reading about this, it is good that arrests have been made. It is fortunate that I am not the one to decide their punishment!
 
A Mass of Reparation has been held for the chapel, with hundreds of students in attendance.

In the meantime, the student group Contrapoder has held a rally in support of the four women arrested.

Anti-Catholic rallies outside the university chapel in Valencia and Barcelona have also taken place, although I don’t think specifically in support of the four women.
 
What an odd way to protest… that doesn’t really send a message, it’s just offensive, silly, and crude.
 
Thanks for the link, Dale. So, am I correct in reading that while these women were engaging in what they described as “lesbian manifestations” on the alter, their cohorts were scrawling vile epithets on the church doors regarding the shame of pederasty which has recently plagued our church? How grotesque, and how sad that the enemies of the church have such filthy examples of infidelity with which to assail her.

I fear that this modern stain shall linger for a very long time, at least until a complete purification is achieved. We all will have grow a thicker skin, I guess.

I suppose so 😊 I don’t like it when people actively disrespect anybody’s faith tradition, you know? It’s just cruel.

No. I don;t think that was their message. From what I read, their message had something to do with a protest against Catholic priests who rape boys.

Well, that was mentioned along with many other complaints. From the news accounts I’ve read, the bulk of the protest was against what many of the protesters perceived to be misogyny in the Church. However, a standard assortment of anti-Catholic complaints was invoked - mentioning the sex abuse crisis was just one.

This seems to be part of a nationwide series of protest on Spanish campuses during the run-up to the World Youth Day to be held this summer in Madrid.

The only message they conveyed is that they were offensive and crude.
