In the midwest this would be a slam-dunk win for the firefighters.

What I find almost as offensive is:

“If no one volunteers, the department will then ask for paid volunteers, who would receive four hours of overtime pay.”

So they’re going to use taxpayer money to PAY for firefighters to attend a gay pride event?

If this isn’t an abuse of public funds, I don’t know what is…
 
Firefighters should be putting out fires and saving people’s lives, not attending so-called “Gay Pride” events. I’m sure tax payers money could be far better spent by allowing the firemen to attend local schools and colleges in an effort to educate and inspire young people.

Instead, unwilling firemen are forced to attend an event which is both offensive and morally wrong. These firefighters have every right to take their employers to court, and I hope they win a large amount of money. The fire officials who endorsed this event and forced those under their charge to attend need to be taught a lesson.

I pray for the day when these types of “events” no longer have the widespread public support they currently enjoy. I wish they would disappear all together, but that is too much to ask.
