The Houston / Galveston diocese website is promoting an unnerving film:

Dominican Center for Spiritual it (6501 Almeda, Houston). Dominican Sisters of Houston host film screening of “Cracking the Codes: The System of Racial Inequity” and discussion of the system of racial inequity.

Doing a little research online, I see this move was made by World Trust. On their website World Trust lists their partners:

WORLD TRUST PARTNERS

Alameda County of Education

National Center for Lesbian Rights

The National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health – University of California, San Francisco specifically promotes abortion!!!

Why is this Neo-Marxist, Leftist evil ideology being promoted in our diocese??? And what can be done about this?

A little more info about the director/producer of this film, Dr. Shakti Butler:

In 2007, FIRE took issue with a document from a Resident Assistant training session at the University of Delaware’s Office of Residence Life Diversity Facilitation Training. The brief handout, compiled and presented by Dr. Shakti Butler, included a controversial definition of the word “racist”. The author noted that it “applies to all white people (i.e., people of European descent) living in the United States, regardless of class, gender, religion, culture or sexuality”.[34][35] About this event, Walter E. Williams wrote, “This gem of wisdom suggests that by virtue of birth alone, not conduct, if you’re white, you’re a racist.”[36][37]

I’m hope the irony of that statement isn’t lost on them.

We are making the positive assertion that, as a result of your race, you are inferior to us in that you believe that other people are inferior as a result of their race.

You just can’t make this stuff up. XD

As to your concern, technically it is still possible for deplorable organizations to produce some good content. Unlikely, but possible. More likely, this is just another hit piece against the straight, white, American male, meant to garner support from already-like-minded people.

If you feel compelled to act, you should start by bringing your concern to the offending group. Jesus tells us to start with the person (or in this case, the group). If they are unwilling to discuss it, then you could take your concerns to the bishop, and show him that this group supports the work of an organization that directly contradicts Church teaching on so many points. I’m not sure what else you could do though.

No, but the rest of this doctor’s work would seem to indicate that she leans in that direction, especially her wording of the term “racist”, which expresses a view I’ve only ever heard put forward by extreme leftists.

No, being against racism while supporting murder is hypocritical.

The Doctor uses a definition of “racist” that I doubt many, if any at all, use here.

“racist is one who is both privileged and socialized on the basis of race by a white supremacist (racist) system.”

It’s a redefining of that word that I don’t think is helpful. Mostly because what the doctor points to is a thing. But it would be better served using a different word

@Aquinas11 but we shouldn’t throw the baby out with the bathwater, here…

Whatever baby that deems all white people to be inherently racist needs to be thrown out asap.
