In Heb 11:35 - Paul the ONLY other place you will see this in ALL of the Bible is when it is described in 2 Macc. 7:1-42. The Holy Spirit (GOD) inspired Paul to write about this truth - and GOD doesn’t lie
This has come up before and Elvisman believes it is some form of proof. I also think it is proof but in another way. The author of Hebrews has a very specific way of referencing scripture. I will show that in a minute. Hebrews 11:35 is referencing an event found in the Deuterocanonical books of 2nd Macc. but they do not treat it like they do scripture. A reference is not proof something is scripture. The NT has a lot of references to noncanonical books. The author of Hebrews knew that this book was not inspired and the way they treat it is evidence. Lets look at how he treats scripture. The following are passages right before he quotes scripture
Hebrews 1:5 For to which of the angles did He ever say
Hebrews 1:7 and of the angels He says
Hebrews 1:8 But to the Son He says
Hebrews 1:13 But to which of the angels has He ever said
Hebrews 2: 11 He is not ashamed to call them brethren saying
Hebrews 4:3 He has said
Hebrews 5:5 He who said to Him
Hebrews 7:20 He waith an oath by Him who said to Him
Hebrews 10:8 He said
Hebrews 12:5 and you have forgotten the exhortation which He speaks to you as as to sons
This does not occur in Hebrews 11:35. It is indeed a reference to a noncanonical book. The writer of Hebrews clearly shows us through how he treated this noncanonical book.
Your challenge is taken and answered.
