“Sterilization Quota” Ordered by Indian Judge
By Terry Vanderheyden

ALLAHABAD, India, February 24, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) – An Indian Judge has ordered that public servants, teachers, and village leaders fulfill a “sterilization quota” or face sanctions that can include firing, suspensions, or transfers.

Judge Amrit Abhijat has ordered Medical and Health Department officials in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh to each bring in 10 individuals for sterilization. According to an AsiaNews agency report, Judge Abhijat claimed that population explosion is the root of all evil.

It’s India, who cares? There are serious overpopulation problems in that country. They should have managed it decades ago, but now they need drastic measures. I’m sure there are few Christians in that country, and the ones who are, are probably not going to be one of those ten.

I highly doubt that. Christians are a persecuted in many parts of India. They will probably targe them.

In addition, we should care. Sterilization is an affront to God, even if it is done to those who do not believe in Him.

I am really amazed at the callousness of this reply. India does not fall within your daily concerns so who cares? Good reply for a Catholic, congratulations!

How sad. 😦 Sterilisation should never be forced upon anyone!
Agreed. Especialy coerced sterilization. This is no better than a terrorist attack.

I hate to burst someone’s bubble: but there are millions of Catholics and a small number of other Christian denominations, mainly in the Goa-province of India! And they WILL be targeted by overzealous officials who see it as a chance no stop the growing population of non-Hindus…

Pira 114, “Who cares?” When I read that it reminded me of Caan’s reply to God when asked the whereabouts of his brother, Abel. “Am I my brother’s keeper?”

The Population Research Institute cares a lot about this issue as its founder Steven Mosher once believed the population explosion propaganda too. That all changed (in 1979?) when he made a trip to China and witnessed the fearsome brutality of the one child policy. His life was radically changed as a result.

It should also be mentioned that Mother Teresa of Calcutta taught the poor natural family planning with great success. Education in NFP is a much more humane approach than coercive sterilization and abortion; it is cheaper, safer and more effective.
With birthrates dropping worldwide, labor resources will dwindle. The econcomic consequences of depopulation will follow. As economist Peter Drucker argues, labor resources are necessary to assure economic stability and prosperity in any country.13 In many nations throughout the world, it will be difficult, if not impossible, for the shrinking population of workers to sustain an ever-growing number of retirees. The cause of this is overly aggressive family planning programs which violate the rights of women, which in turn create long-term social and economic instability.

From the Population Research Institute also:
The proportion of India’s population 65 or over will go from 5% today to 15% by 2050. The imbalance between boys and girls in India is increasing as Indian couples abort female infants in the womb in order to have more desirable boys without going over their two-child quota. Though sex-selective abortion is illegal in India, it’s rarely prosecuted and widely acknowledged to be prevalent. Roy’s prescription will, of course, make the problem even worse just as China has announced efforts to combat her own massive gender imbalance, caused by her own population control program. India’s sex ratio has gone from 962 girls per 1,000 boys in 1981, to 945 girls per 1,000 boys in 1991, and 927 girls per 1,000 boys in 2001.

Morality aside, they are playing a very dangerous game. they are imposing a disrespect for life, shuving it in their people’s throats.

What are they expecting exactly? A generation from they’ll say “OK, the crisis is over, you can have babies now.” and expect epople to shrud their shoulders and start having babies?

Once people are taught to kill, to die, to commit suicide and disrespect life as a whole; it is extremely hard to teach them different. It is much easier to teach destruction than it is to teach construction. THIS type of thinking, that ‘human life is disposable and manageable’ IS PRECISELY THE THINKING THAT LEADS TO GENOCIDES.

If sterilization, abortion, and ect… continue and accelerate as they are, it will not stop until it is far too late.

It is already too late. Abortion is available on demand, female infanticide is rampant. There are no strong ethical or moral systems in place. The homosexual community is growing bolder. All this under a layer of hypocrisy, where people claim to be very"religous". The religion available in the main has degenerated to magic and soothsaying for material benefits. That is India largely exceot for a few. By the way the Catholic population is not very small.
