Although the above words come from the movie “Cocoon,” they could have come from the Watchtower Society because this is the same thing they have been proclaiming for decades as part of…

*“the Creator’s promise of a peaceful and secure new world that is about to replace the present wicked, lawless system of things.” *

It is this very appealing prospect (which Witnesses believe will begin to happen “any day now”) that attracts many people to begin to study the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses. Their favorite Scripture they like to quote when going door-to-door is Revelation 21:3,4…

And God will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither mourning, outcry or pain be any more. The former things have passed away." Revelation 21:3,4

This is the message that got me started studying in 1964. It wasn’t until 1984 that I was finally able to figure out that the above was not “the Creator’s promise” after all. It had only been the promise of the few men of the Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Something else I should have mentioned in my original post…

Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that as long as they don’t get some fatal disease or die in an accident, if they remain faithful to God and loyal to “his organization” (i.e. the Watchtower Society), they may never have to die.

They believe that very soon “God’s people” (i.e. only Jehovah’s Witnesses) will survive “the end of the world” and be able to pass on into God’s new “system of things” right here on earth. And once that happens “death will be no more” according to Rev. 21:4.

This hope of never-having-to-die" feeling has sustained many Witnesses through all kinds of hardships.

For those who do die before the new system gets here, Witnesses look forward to the resurrection of their loved ones who they feel are comfortably sleeping in death in Hell - the common grave of mankind.
