Actually, if you pay close attention, during the Eucharistic Prayers, all Bishops (Pope included) uncover their heads.

Also, you can point the Protestants to the Eastern Orthodox. Their bishops do the same thing, they just have different head coverings.

Paul was just adressing the cultural norms of his time. He also says women should cover their head in 1 Corinthians 11:6.

To add to this… sometimes St. Paul is actually addressing Discipline and not Dogma or Doctrine.

Dogma cannot be changed.
Doctrine can developed and/or better defined into Dogma
Discipline can can be changed or removed.

But doesn’t 1 Corinthians 11:13-16 say it’s not our custom? I mean because if hair is a woman’s covering, doesn’t that mean she doesn’t need anything else?

He says they just uncover their head for one prayer, not for all prayers. And he also says that the Bible will always be relevant and it is not a cultural thing.

You might point out that if he really believed in scriptural relevance that he would be a Catholic!
