1 Corinthians 11:3

“But I would have you know that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is the man, and the head of Christ is God.”

what does “and the head of Christ is God” mean?? If Christ=God then he is head of himself…is this just a play on words? Or is there a hierarchy within the Father, Son & Holy Spirit…if they are all one in the same then there is no “head”…any thoughts?

Each Divine Person is God and the Father is the Principal in the Holy Trinity. Christ is the Son Incarnate, and the Son is eternally begotten of the Father: God from God. In another sense, Christ is true God and true Man, and His Humanity is lower than His Divinity, so Christ as God is the head of Christ as Man. And this goes back to the Father and the Son: since Christ is specifically the Son and not all three Persons in the flesh, than the Father is also head of Christ as Man, so Christ isn’t simply the head of Himself.

Paul is saying that the head of Christ, the man, is God. He’s setting up the manhood of Jesus as his example of perfect husband/wife relationship. Christ is the head of the Church, his Bride, therefore, man is the head of his household, with all the responsibilities that that position of authority entails.
