1 corinthians 13?

Have you ever taken 1 Corinthians 13 apart, say takiing the word “patiance” and found as many words that mean patiance and apply them to your lif?
I am interested in your sharing this with me it could or would help me in a self study I am doing at present.

I don’t know if this helps. I once heard a homily in which the priest had us close our eyes (it was on a retreat) and in our mind replace the word “love” for the word “I”. Then he asked us to walk through our daily lives in using 1 Corinthians 13 as the basis and remember that we can also replace the word “love” with the word “Jesus”
 
I think it is easier to find actions/results that are related to patience than to find words that have the meaning of the word “patience”.

Patience:
  • avoids us from judging others.
  • gives us hope.
  • calms our minds.
  • reduces our hot temper.
  • brings us love.
    … etc …

My girlfriend and I read that passage every day, then discuss how we can apply it to our lives and our relationship. Truly one of my favorite passages.
 
One of my sons is getting married at the end of this month. He and his fiancee have chosen part of 1 Cor 13 as a reading at the Mass.
 
Great Scripture. You might try thinking of each of these words as a spirit. Patience, kindness, … The words do not mean much, but when you act out patience, you manifest the spirit of patience. Same as if you manifest anger. You cannot see anger, smell it, taste it, or even know it’s there, but we know it exists don’t we? We never see anger, but we see the fruits of it. We see the manifestation of it through people. We know it is real even though we cannot see it.

Take 1 Cor 13 and work to manifest those spirits in your daily life always. If someone is short with you, be patient. If someone is unkind, be kind to them. If someone is jealous, do not be jealous. This is the spirit of out God. This is the spirit that Jesus operated in. When we opearate in this spirit of Love we manifest Jesus to the world. Neat stuff huh?

I also chose that along with Galatians 5 -22 only snips of both and they came out to be anointed by the response.
