I am confused about this verse.
The NIV that I was reading ommits the part where it talks about the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and has a footnote that says,
“late manuscripts of the Vulgate say ‘And there are Three who give testimony in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost. And these three are one. And there are three that give testimony on earth: the spirit and the water and the blood. And these three are one.’ (not found in any Greek manuscript before the sixteenth century)”
And basically only the DRB and KJV have that part, whereas the Vulgate and the RSV omitt that part and actually say different things. I am using e-Sword and the Greek versions I have even disagree! Some include the whoe Trinity part and others do not…
Does anyone know what is going on here?
