Hi,

1 Peter 3:7, what’s the context of “Women are not weaker than men. They are not the weaker sex. They are the other sex.” from the Catholic article natepyle.com/seeing-a-woman/

“Likewise you husbands, live considerately with your wives, bestowing honor on the woman as the weaker sex, since you are joint heirs of the grace of life, in order that your prayers may not be hindered.” - 1 Peter 3:7

Our Blessed Virgin Mary is a powerful woman! 😃

In Christ,
Brian

To begin, that article is not Catholic. Now onto the passage. Peter calls men and women “joint heirs of the grace of life” so when he refers to women as the weaker sex he is not talking about spiritual matters. Instead he is talking about physical strength and telling men not to use their strength to abuse their wives because they are spiritually equal.

Like mentioned above, its not talking about weaker in the sense of spiritual strength, nor weaker intellegence, but rather physical. Men should be the protectors of women.

Thank you for the context! I just assumed Catholic because a well known Catholic liked it on facebook. Thank you.
