1 samuel 28, help me here

I’m having trouble believing in this passage after I finished reading book 1 of samuel that chapter didn’t sit with me very well. Are mediums, psychics, astrology, new age stuff real? can spirits really be contacted? I even searched online and found this interesting article

Yes, they are real.

When people seek the occult rather than God they are sinning. It can also open the doors to demonic harassment. The Bible teaches about avoiding divination. We are to seek God and Him alone who can do all good things for us.
 
yes but saul wanted to see samuel and his spirit appeared it wasn’t some demon or anything. I find this event hard to believe it sounds like a fairytale. It would be like after my mom would die I would go to a medium and try to contact her can that really happen? But like the article i posted the medium was probably a fake or fraud and it was God that send samuels sprirt down not her.
 
We are forbidden to seek contact with the dead by going to mediums. The devil is all too ready to deceive.

Of course, we can ask the saints to intercede to God for us…that is not forbidden.
