10-15 min?

One told me here before that our Lord is present in the Eucharist 10-15 min. after consumed. Then is gone.

How do we know this? Was there a test done to prove it? LOL! I mean, did people say, “Oh, I know Jesus is in me…” then 15 min. later, “Oh, He’s gone but in my soul…” ??? Or what??

How do we know He’s there 10-15 min??

I don’t think that the 15 minutes is meant to be taken as a dogmatic fact or time limit.
The Church merely urges people not to consume food immediately after receiving the Eucharist, as a sign that we acknowledge that in receiving Communion, we are not receiving something common, but the Body and Blood of the Lord Jesus.

What I have heard is that in all cases, the host and wine remain as the Body and Blood of Christ until such time as they start to decompose - which in your stomach is typically about 15 minutes. That made sense from a sacrilege perspective to me.

It is however long it takes for the accidents of bread and wine to decompose, the accidents of this digestive mush then reconvert to inhering in a normal material substance and are not Jesus anymore.

10-15 minutes I suppose was found out by doing scientific tests on how long it takes to digest something. Sticking a camera down someone’s throat and timing to see when the food is no longer recognizable as food? Something like that. The “minutes and seconds” are a scientific question, not a religious one.

10-15 minutes refers only to the time Jesus is sacramentally present within us after receiving Holy Communion. Jesus is spiritually present within us indefinitely as long as we are in the state of grace.
