Why are the 10 Commandments laid out in the Protestant translation in the Douay-Rheims Bible
Well, if it’s in the Douay-Rheims, doesn’t that automatically make it a Catholic translation?

It is indeed a Catholic translation of the Clementine Latin Vulgate.

And to answer the Original Post… The Protestant number the ten outside of the Bible differently from the way the Catholics number the ten outside of the Bible.

I don’t know what this means? “outside the Bible?” What are you saying.
There’s no official numbering of the commandments. I like the Jewish numbering, it’s very logical. The first five logically hang together because they have the wording “the Lord your God” in them. The last five do not have that phrase in it. Nothing is lost in such numbering, in fact, quite the contrary.
Judaism notes that honoring our parents is very important and closely related to honoring God.
The way they are numbered outside of the Bible.
