I don’t know where the link came from, or how reliable it is as a description of the revelations at Medjugorje, but it seems so vague it could describe anything. There will be an ‘event’, not a natural or supernatural disaster (therefore probably man-made) in which people will die and there will be suffering, it will happen ‘some years’ after another equally vague event. Also, remember that the Church has never approved the apparitions at Medjugorje.

Two things to remember:
  1. “You will hear of wars and rumours of wars, do not be disturbed by them.”
  2. For a good Catholic, death should not be something to fear, it is our gateway into everlasting life. “To live is Christ, and to die is gain.”

‘Be not afraid, I go before you always’, as Our Lord said. We’re all going to die, some of us very soon, most of us probably well before the end of the world or these events prophesied by Medjugorje (assuming they’re accurate, and that’s a huge maybe).

Simply live as well as you can, every hour of every day. Pray much, make frequent use of the sacraments, trust in God’s help and mercy and live in hope of being with Him in heaven at the end, whenever it comes.

Make living for Him today your only concern, and that will give you the best chance of having a good future - whatever it may bring.

Sounds to me to amount to about the same thing as “Somewhere, not too distant in the future, a hurricane will happen.” then “somewhere soon, a tornado will occur” then “sometime very soon, a car accident will happen”. Except not as specific.

Way too vague, and way too general, IMHO to be genuine. Compared to the visions and revelations given to the Saints, and other visionaries (like Fatima).

The Church will go through much, all you need to do is read Scripture to understand that much. But - we are promised that God will look after us, no matter what we go through.

As another poster said - To Live is Christ, to die is gain. Personally - I can’t wait to get out of here! 👍

Come Lord Jesus

Peace

John

catholicplanet is not a reliable Catholic site, so you heart will much easier if you stay away from there

the alleged events at Medjugorje have not been approved by the Church, so promoting them is a banned topic on this forum. OP is not promoting, just asking a question. Since the Church has not approved those messages, simply disregard the whole thing. previous posters have given excellent responses. Rely on the bible and the catechism of the Catholic Church and your priests and teachers who give you sound Catholic teaching, and stay away from that which is not endorsed by our Mother the Church and you will be fine.

Actually the ban is on posting of any messages from unapproved apprations not just the promotion of them.

And Medjugorje is explicitly listed.

Here is the link…

forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=116480

The posting of a link to such messages could be seen as the posting of material from an unapproved private revelation.

has Medjurgorje not been approved by the catholic chuch ??
why… is it private revelations

No it has not been approved by the Church.

Any messages such as Medjurgorje purport to be is considers private revelation.

Here is what the Catholic Encyclopedia has to say about private revelations.

There are two kinds of revelations: (1) universal revelations, which are contained in the Bible or in the depositum of Apostolic tradition transmitted by the Church. These ended with the preaching of the Apostles and must be believed by all; (2) particular or private revelations which are constantly occurring among Christians. When the Church approves private revelations, she declares only that there is nothing in them contrary faith or good morals, and that they may be read without danger or even with profit; no obligation is thereby imposed on the faithful to believe them.

Here is what the Catechism of the Catholic Church has to say.

67 Throughout the ages, there have been so-called “private” revelations, some of which have been recognized by the authority of the Church. They do not belong, however, to the deposit of faith. It is not their role to improve or complete Christ’s definitive Revelation, but to help live more fully by it in a certain period of history. Guided by the Magisterium of the Church, the sensus fidelium knows how to discern and welcome in these revelations whatever constitutes an authentic call of Christ or his saints to the Church.

Christian faith cannot accept “revelations” that claim to surpass or correct the Revelation of which Christ is the fulfillment, as is the case in certain non-Christian religions and also in certain recent sects which base themselves on such “revelations”.

Hope this helps you out.

Yes, it is a private revelation. As such, a Catholic can totally ignore it. I am one of those who totally ignores it.

If it is end-of-the-world fun you want, I think you can still find END DAY over on YouTube. It is a BBC show of 5 future catastrophes, much more interesting then those blah examples of private revelations:D
  1. Massive Tidal Wave wipes out the entire east coast of the USA:clapping:
  2. Pandemic flu wipes out millions:extrahappy:
  3. Asteroid slams into the earth:bigyikes:
  4. Eruption of the Yellowstone volcano wipes out the USA:popcorn:
  5. CERN creates a strangelet that devours the entire earth:ouch:
Of course, living in California, we always have that big earthquake to look forward to.

has Medjurgorje not been approved by the catholic chuch ??
why… is it private revelations
No, it hasn’t been approved. On the contrary, almost everything the Church HAS had to say about it has been disapproving, but supporters somehow keep hoping the Pope will wake up one day thinking differently and approve it. 🤷

‘Public revelation’ consists of those things that all Catholics are absolutely bound to believe as essential to their faith - which is why it is called ‘public’. Public revelation ceased upon the death of the Apostle John, since Christ promised the Apostles would be in possession of all truth. It is also confined only to what is taught by the Apostles themselves and their successors, our Bishops and Popes, since Christ promised the authority to teach ‘all truth’ to no-one but them.

Our Lady and those to whom she is allegedly appearing, are simply not endowed with the authority to add to this public revelation. Therefore, even assuming that the appartions are true, they can at best be ‘private’, not considered to be essential belief for all Catholics, rather just binding on those to whom she is appearing.

a passage in the Bible (in Acts 5:30) that seems appropriate to the apparitions. When the Jews tried to silence the Apostles, Gamaliel, a respected Jewish rabbi, in addressing his colleagues, said, “And so my advice is, leave these men alone. If what they teach and do is merely on their own, it will soon be overthrown. But if it is of God, you will not be able to stop them, lest you find yourself fighting against even God.”

however i went there once it was ok. But why do people get better from sickness when the sometimes they go to medjugorje ??.the people who claim that the are seeing Mary if there not seeing Mary then who are the seeing ?? is it the evil the are seeing

Here is another one that seems appropriate to apparitions, especially those that are not approved.

2 Timothy 4:3-4
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;
4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

I’ve been - I saw a lot of faith-filled people doing great faith-filled things, but then I saw that at World Youth Day too, and no-one is claiming THAT as an apparition site.

People of faith will be healed no matter where they are, if their faith is pure and strong. The healings are not a heavenly endorsement of the apparitions - nor are they even that important in the grand scheme of things.

What matters is the content of the messages that ‘Our Lady’ is supposedly giving. And she has said some very questionable stuff, like that all faiths are equally valid in the eyes of God (why did He bother giving us scripture and the Pope and Bishops to teach us His one truth then?) and that Pope Paul VI was killed (if I remember rightly) and replaced by an impostor!

please read more carefully before you get upset
previous poster did not say there had been an imposter pope
she was giving an example of the crazy claims people make without any justification whatever, to show you not to believe everything you see on the web

bottom line, if it is not church teaching, disregard it
if it is not a solid Catholic site, don’t go there
to allow ourselves to get upset by something that is not even true is hardly helpful to our spirituality.

OP,

In 1989 I read a book about the big M by Wayne Wieble. It spoke of the “secrets” you’re worried about - I was worried too. The book was written in '87, and Wayne said we had “about 10 years” before the big chastisement would com. By '97, I was no longer concerned, and, of course, another decade and then some has now come and gone. I believe later editions of Wayne’s book have changed or removed these predictions.

False prophecy is one sure sign of false private revelation, but M has just about everything else going against it as well: lies and ridiculous disobedience by all involved, heretical messages, and other things. Furthermore, it has been condemned by the Church. Please don’t confuse good fruits with authenticity - every major false apparition has had the same fruits. This is God at work, as always.

Please seek out information and don’t be taken in by this falsehood.

Moderators: I know this is a forbidden subject but I wanted to reply to ease the OP’s mind and that of anyone who may have read this here.

Catholic planet is not known for its reliability. Stick to sites like new advent.org or ewtn.com…they have articles upon articles that are solid.
Medjugori is not approved by the Church so I wouldnt put too much into the messages, they seem very vague, much like me saying that
there will be plane crash soon or a great earthquake will destroy 1/3 of the U.S. too vague to worry about.
PLUS worry is from the evil one, put your trust in God and leave your worries on the Altar.

Been there, done that. I was told and read the end times were here 8 years ago…along with the 3days of darkness are upon us etc. Yea, I pretty much freaked. I suppose that’s how we learn.

Keep focused on Christ and your prayer life and soon enough the thought of death wont bother you so much. I understand your a teenager (bless your heart) and I think what bothers you more is the way you might die more so than death itself.

Something to ponder…

Mary, Queen of the Saints….Pray for us

Two things:
  1. Good and bad people are always dying every day.
  2. The Church has NOT approved of Medjugorje. And even if it were approved, you would be free to take no account of any “revelations” therefrom. How much more one that has NOT been approved.
