I think that history shows us that there seems to be a human need for otherism. Sad to say but I think a 100% Catholic society would just start creating divisions within itself…traditionalists vs. liberal church…liturgy arguments…something for people to fight over. It’s just the nature of people to be like that. Sad, but realistic!

I grew up in a 99.9% Catholic city. The only kid at school who was nice to me is a Buddhist. I always believed that Buddhist are the kindest people. There is a saying that be passionate like a Christian, xxx like a Muslim, …, and kind like a Buddhist. For the first 20 years of my life, the only few kind people in my life are non Christian/Catholic. I would be terrified to imagine a 100% Catholic Society.

No. Every Catholic parish has 100% of parishioners being Catholic and no parish is perfect

I’m sorry if I wasn’t clear, It’s kinda hard to explain what I’m trying to say since I’m not the best english speaker. About solving world hunger. If everyone complied with the ten commandements, if everyone tried their best and helped the ones who need the most, if everyone lived the Sacraments seriously? I know it’s an utopic idea, but would this work?
you are describing the absence of free will 😉

Sure, if everyone operated with a hive mind, we could statistically eliminate hunger and famine, with the exception of severe droughts and logistics snafus

Normally there are bigger issues that tend to divide societies.
Take a country in Latin America, in the past when even the Constitution may have stated a President had to be Catholic.
I think it set a tone for the common good that built some identity, and that tone included very good blending with other minority religions. So that was very positive.
The issue is that there are normally much bigger issues , mostly economical, that bring disagreements in policies,
And others but just to give you an idea that it isn’t in the least based on those “ internal” factors. At all.

No, as Jesus told the apostles:

Matt 26:11 The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me.

Charity/Love is the duty of the church. Forced charity through government isn’t charity at all. Every time man attempts to play God it ends in failure. Our job is to follow.

Just my 2 cents

I don’t need a Church in order to do any of those things.
And yet Jesus established one:

Col 1:18 He is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning, the first-born from the dead, that in everything he might be pre-eminent.

In other words you are claiming you don’t need the church, his body, of which he is the head, in effect, whether you realize it or not you are saying you don’t need Him.

Jn 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.
5 I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

And we abide in him most especially, according to Jesus, through the Eucharist.

Jn 6: 55 For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
56 He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him.
57 As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats me will live because of me.
58 This is the bread which came down from heaven, not such as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live for ever."

Peace and God Bless

Let me chime in for a while. And going back to a Catholic identity .( or national identity for the case )
What you may see as charity, one has to also allow be contemplated as a right based on the inherent dignity of persons. We have to start by looking at each other in the eyes as persons…
Let me try and clarify, it really feels bad to say one is being charitable by contributing that somebody can eat…
As a people we don’t feel charitable but the least a society can do. Foster opportunities to work , for example.
Same as health, how is it charitable that two children one has access to surgery and another one through “ charity”? Well no, it is kind of a basic beginning to start speaking: they are both children.
So though there may be normal disagreements as to the how, or if we as a people choose the municipality to cater for say education through our taxes, there should be some respect as to what is considered a right and that is Social teaching of the Church.
In many cases it is directly related to our identity as a society. May sound better or worse for other people, but I believe respectable.
Just trying to convey a different perspective .I understand though it isn’t that one society can impose certain ideas over other ones. We are different .

We’d have a near-perfect society if nobody violated any of the ten commandments.

I’ve been thinking about this for a while: What if we lived in a society where everyone was catholic? Would some of the world’s problems disappear? e.g. World hunger? Would it be morally viable to live in a society where everyone believed in Jesus Christ and in the Catholic Church as the true church? Would this be the closest to perfection ( as a society) we could get?
These problems exist because we have fallen natures. So while certain aspects of society might improve i doubt that the problems we have now would just disappear. There would still be wars, there would still be selfishness, there would still be hunger, malice, spite, poverty and ignorance and blatant evil in the world; and people would still face the possibility of going to hell at the end of it whether they are Catholic or not.

So much for the Catholic utopia, because it’s not humanly possible.

The Transformation of humanity into something that is entirely good and without fault, can only occur by the supernatural power of God.
