A number of EF communities were able to get started and grow as a result of the Motu Proprio – a very good thing for the life of the Church. Thanks to Pope Benedict for that!

Thank you for posting this! That is great to hear – and something I’ve never attended. A Solemn High Pontifical Mass!

Bishop Perry has been tremendously supportive in Chicago – helping the Society of St. John Cantius for many years.

Congratulations to whoever organized this in Philadelphia also!

What earlier generations held as sacred, remains sacred and great for us too, and it cannot be all of a sudden entirely forbidden or even considered harmful. It behooves all of us to preserve the riches which have developed in the Church’s faith and prayer, and to give them their proper place (from Pope Benedict XVI’s Letter to the Bishops accompanying the motu proprio).

Bishop Perry is gracious.

Grandpapa Benedict gave us a great gift!

True 👍

Bishop Perry should be named to a diocese by now.
But no matter, he is, indeed gracious and I’m so glad he was invited to the archdiocese.
A solemn high pontifical takes a lot of work to prepare and offer also - so it says a lot about his commitment!

And may Pope Benedict stay with us many more years!

The Church is quite diverse. We have tons of rites and rites within rites. Something for everyone.

I had the pleasure of attending two of his Masses several years ago and it was great.
