Mexico has more gun-related homicides than the United States every year, does it not? Doesn’t Mexico have stricter gun control laws than the U.S. overall?

I read an article, Mexico actually had a low or at least much lower murder rate around 2000.

The Cartel wars, mostly but not totally about transporting drugs drives this phenomenon.

That said, Guanajuato (GTO) where this happened is not a drug hub so much. A lot of other is there including stealing oil and gas.
