11 year old attempts suicide in a coma, needs prayers

Eternal God , in whom mercy is endless,
and the treasury of compassion inexhastible ,
look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us ,

I was bullied in grade school too, I really feel for this kid! The Blessed Mother and I are praying for him and presenting him to Jesus’ Sacred Heart. They were of infinite help to me, and I know they will be for him, too!
 
Praying that the young man’s parents teach him some character. All of this suicide weakness is really unbecoming of today’s youth. Kids weren’t trying to kill themselves left and right when I was growing up, and it’s sad that today’s parents don’t even care enough about their kids to teach them to stand up for themselves.

He chose to try to end his life instead of endure any more pain at the hands of his classmates. I have heard many times that kids will be kids. Speaking as an adult who was bullied as a child in elementary school I can assure you that children can be very mean. As a kid in the playground, I would just go over to where the other kids were “picking” on someone. I said and did nothing, nor did I “report” them. They stopped. Only one asked me what I was doing. My telling him that I was preventing him from getting into trouble stopped him. Maybe it was because I was so small . . . they could not figure me out! :clapping: Many years later, my parents told me that the School Principal had noticed it and called them in to “see your daughter in action”. They saw me from the Principal’s Office window! This was a parish school.

You have hit on something that is a major contributing factor in all the bullying. People, including teachers, principals, other kids, who watch and do nothing. There seems to be more and more of this approach which only increases the level and severity of bullying. Yet when someone does intervene they can land up in trouble too and as a kid even suspended as part of the problem. (Seen it done.)

Growing up my siblings and I saw our parents and grandparents constantly get involved. We learned by example, that even in very dangerous situations, you have the obligation and the ability to do something about wrong doing. Over the years my father saved at least 4 different peoples lives because he stopped local thugs from beating the life out of them, my brother got of his bike as a teenager and chased a group of men stomping two other men in the street. He had to pull one man under a car to prevent the attackers from continuing their assault. (Unfortunately both men died.)

My sister has confronted men assaulting women, I have done the same, our paternal grandparents did the same. Yes it was dangerous, but when another person’s life is in danger that is what you do. You don’t sit back and watch. And if you are raised seeing this done it almost becomes second nature.

Oh sweet Jesus, please have mercy on us all.

Please heal this child’s brain and body completely. Please open the eyes of the bully’s hearts to see that what they did was wrong so that they won’t do it to anyone else. Please send angels on specific missions to stop suicide attempts. Please somehow make this world less cruel. Please comfort this boy’s family and provide ways for their medical expenses to be covered. Amen.

P.S. After reading this in the article - “Michael is deeply religious, and he turned to his faith,” Shannon told Chicago Now. “He asked to start taking confirmation classes, and he carried a little Bible with him everywhere. He told us that he would sit at a table at lunchtime and recite Bible verses to himself, and it brought him great joy.” - I am convinced that there was/is a spiritual battle going on for this boy’s soul. St. Michael please stand watch and guard his soul. Amen.
