112 year old Muslim man married 17 year girl.

Well to start off if this is true all I can say is good for him. :). And also good for her I doubt she’ll have to endure sex from the guy.
 
I’m 17 and this man is older than every single one of my great grandparents!!!

Well, I hope they are both happy with each other, although I have to admit the age difference is pretty wide. Good luck to both.

I have to ask you, what about the girl? What could possibly be in it for her? Is there anywhere in this worldview and spiritual view that puts any importance on her needs? He can’t live much longer; what will happen to her when she is a widow? Who will take care of her? In some Muslim communities, widows are left to beg. Is this one of them?If he is capable of having sexual relations, why would she want to have sex with a 112 year old man? You describe yourself as Christian spiritually and Muslim in the flesh, if I remember correctly. Do you find this disregard for the girl’s short-term and long-term well-being compatible with Christian belief?
 
Is he rich? Good looks certainly couldn’t have swayed her to marry him. Was she was so poor and he had some food on the table. Maybe she is almost blind.

There ain’t nothing religious about this. Unless this is one of those miracles that the Muslims are always piping up about.

According to the CIA World Factbook, the average life expectancy for males at birth in Somalia is 47.78 years. That means this man has lived 2.34 times the average lifespan! Wow!

He must be doing something right, but it is certainly NOT marrying 17 year olds at the age of 112! :mad:

Surely he cannot be long for this world. I can only hope that he and this woman live a chaste life. At their respective ages, the last thing they should be thinking about is sexual intimacy. 17 strikes me as too young (though I doubt this concept matters in a country where women only live to 51), and 112 is certainly faaaaaaaar too old! Yikes.
 
I would take his age with a large pinch of salt…Even though large age gaps are likely religiously and culturally acceptable in their society, this one stretches the imagination! Not unheard of for some young bombshell to marry a fellow with one foot in the grave here, either a la what’s-her-name Nicole Smith…but a 95 year gap would be a record, if true.
 
The thing that’s really amazing is that he looks 60 and seems to have all his own teeth.

Yes, that guy learned from Muhammed, remember that Muhammed was at 51 when he married Aisha at 6, so age difference in marriage is not a big deal for Muslims.

More important then who would take care of her, is the society view of her, generally in our Islamic countries, we tend to look in a suspicious way at widows, because we think that she might commit adultery without and problems (i.e., opposite of being a virgin).

Of course not, its not compatible with the Christian belief, where we hear about such marriages in Christianity!

Boy, do I feel goofy! Fell for it hook, line and sinker.

Sam, you did a great job of sounding serious; you should have been an actor. It never occurred to me anyone would actually utter a prayer to Muhammed (or anyone else) unless they meant it.
