I must admit, I am a bit disappointed. I was really hoping for more involvement from our Muslim guests on this thread. Are they avoiding it intentionally? Do the answers to my questions make them uncomfortable?

I have seen greater participation on threads about eating pork!

What I bring up points to a very real and human essence to the beliefs of Catholics. It is as close to real evidence to the divinity of Jesus that can logically be understood from our human perspective.

I know why the Apostles changed their tune. Would our Muslim guests even venture to give it some thought?

Jesus and his Apostles were Muslims?? LOL! I’m sorry Faith, but that is so funny!😃
Yes. Muslim= a person who submits to the will of God. added ofcourse that they believe in all the messengers and the books that were revealed with them. Jesus peace be upon him submitted to the will of God (i believe there is a verse that says EXACTLY that in the Bible…i’m too tired to look for the verse) and He believed in all the messengers before Him…and so did his followers.

dont worry, he’ll let you know when he returns to this earth 😃

Thanks Faith. I have my own Qur’an. I do not need an online version. Hopefully you have a copy of a Catholic Bible so we may discuss things with the same materials? Yes?

I only ask that you consider the faith of the Apostles before and after the Resurrecution and think about it seriously.
a *catholic * bible…why, are they different? I have two copies of the Bible i recieved from two different people…i read from one of them b/c the font is bigger…i havent actually gone through to see if they said something different.

Iamrefreshed…those people who followed Jesus Christ peace be upon him would have believed him when he was alive and they may have been killed after that b/c of the same reason. I dont see how his most beloved companions would abandon him when he needed them the most. There are normal people today on this earth that would never do that to their leader. And Jesus peace be upon him was among the best of people.

Faith, you are using the Bible to support your arguments after you have claimed the Bible corrupt. You cannot have it both ways.

Yes Faith, a Catholic Bible. Yes they are different. A word (ie. Bible) does not make them identical. If that were true I could easily say that the Islam supported by terrorists is the same Islam as yours. I know better.

Bible means collection of books.
from bibliotheque or some such word.

the books therein may differ, but the contents of the books will be identical.

i believe that Jesus Christ peace be upon him recieved revelation from his Lord. Some may have been written down and is contained in the present day “bible”. Therefore, I can agree with the Bible where it agrees with the Quran and disagree with it when it doesnt. Simply because i Believe that the Quran is divine scripture, unchanged…and the Bible is not.

In any case, Jesus by definiton, is a Muslim…and he was among the best of Muslims.

so i can just stick to the one i have since the message in them is the same? or should i get a Catholic bible?

I thought the Bible was something that the Christians read and derived guidance from? So different denominations have different scripture that they believe is from God?

that is a really bad analogy by the way.

Martin Luther removed 7 books that didn’t support his doctrine.

Here’s a good online Catholic Bible:

This thread is meant to show our Muslim friends just how strong the Holy Spirit is. This is what happened to the 12 Apostles of Jesus:

1- Andrew - crucified
2- Bartholomew- beaten then crucified
3- James- stoned to death
4- John- exiled, died of old age
5- James- beheaded
6- Judas(not Iscariot) - stoned to death
7- Matthew- speared to death
8- Peter - crucified upside down
9- Philip - crucified
10- Simon - crucified
11- Thomas- speared to death
12- Matthias- stoned to death

11 of 12 met horrible deaths all because they would not forsake Jesus. What gave them such strength?

These are the same men who denied Jesus before His crucifixion. Why would they deny Him him out of fear before His death yet be willing to die for him later?

Please think about this.
How about this. I am not impressed. We have people who strap bombs to their bodies and blew themselves to smitheren for something they believe. What do you think give them such strength and will power?

I thougth of posting what you posted above, but I know Muslims do not have an answer to this. Hawk said it nicely. It is not in the Quran and being not there I think it’s quite difficult to get them telling you something. Beside it’s diffcult too to deny the effect of the Holy Spirit on the apostles. You are putting them in a corner.

Peace.

God bless you.

Reuben.

Hello Reuben. As a Catholic I have a hard time comparing the Apostles with people who actively seek their death for a cause. The Apostles did not actively seek their death. I’m fairly certain they would have rather lived and continue preaching the teachings of Jesus.

My point in the thread was to show the difference in the Apostles before and after the Crucifixion and Ressurection.

They went from cowering men scared for their own lives one moment to men willing to die for the same cause the next.

I think that this transformation in them is as near to earthly evidence of the Ressurection as you will find.

Hi faith. No I do not wish to discuss the Trinity with you again. We both know your feelings on the subject.

The reason for the post was to let Muslim’s know the power of the Holy Spirit and the truth of the Crucifixion and Resurrection.
Just wanted to keep us on task.

Actually, I just wanted to show you one of the reason WE believe it. You are, obviously, free to believe as you will.

Akanke was actually supporting you and your thread. Faith101 was once again trying to drag their misunderstanding of the Trinity into the discussion, so Akanke was posting a quote by you to support the intention of your thread 😃

OK, I see. Sometimes it’s difficult to read between the lines.:o
