So at Easter Vigil, my parish Priest said that there are approximately 150,000 people being Baptised and/or Confirmed in North America during Easter Vigils & Masses. I don’t know where he got this statistic, but I thought how wonderful it was to hear!! The media would have us believe that there is hardly no one left in the Church. So how many in your parish or diocese? Reasonable approximations are okay! I’m not a statistician and hope people will understand the spirit of this thread! Welcome all newly Baptised & Confirmed!! Welcome!

Prince George Diocese, BC, Canada… 15
(we’re small about 100K total pop)

Three at my local parish. None of the three were catechumens. Two, however, were my wife and daughter. That is part of the reason the statistic you shared was so exciting to me.

I agree, Don’t trust the Media! I’ll find out how many here. God Bless, Memaw

Our parish alone, one of 4 in town, welcomed more than 20. Some were children of returning Catholics, some adult catechumens. It is a tremendous blessing to be part of this parish, where evangelization and discipleship are emphasized.

We had six baptized yesterday, and I think 5-6 more will be brought into full communion next Sunday, and a couple more at Pentecost (depends on when they started).

It is wonderful!

26 (including myself) in my church! And many more were receiving First Commuinion and/or Confirmation! Though the Confirmation only ones will be confirmed in April!

He’s probably including adult and infant Baptisms, which for all of North America, 150,000 is possible

Jim

In my parish there were 10 Elect and 12 Candidates received last night in my parish alone. At the Rite of Election I seem to recall there being about 50 catechumens in our city being prepared.

I was one of the Elect…I am now officially Catholic!! Wahoo!

We had 7 baptized and about 15 confirmed, but those numbers are large because I go to the Cathedral in my archdiocese.

150,000 sounds great! I hope it’s accurate.

We will have a few more being received in May who are already baptized, but will be confirmed and come into full communion. Teens, mostly, converting from other faiths or none at all/

Ay my parish, one Anglican lady was received into the Church through the Ordinariate at the Easter Vigil. Her two babies are being baptised next Sunday.

That’s especially encouraging, getting them in young!

Welcome home! :extrahappy:

Nine in my parish.

We had one catechumen and four candidates who received their Sacraments of Initiation. The area that my parish covers already has a relatively high percentage of baptized Catholics, so that’s probably why we don’t have large numbers of people joining each year.

North America means USA, Canada, Mexico, and all the countries in Central America and the Caribbean. That’s a total population of hundreds of millions of people, so there are certainly a large number of non-Catholics that could potentially decide to become a part of the Catholic Church. The U.S. alone has thousands joining each year.

“While a lot of people leave the Church, they tend not to be good Catholics,” says Curtis Martin, president of Catholics United for the Faith, who himself returned to the Church after spending five years as an evangelical Protestant. “The Protestants [now] coming into the Church are the most devoted Protestants, people deeply committed to Scripture and prayer.** We’re losing the numbers game but we are winning the quality game in spades.**”
This gives me hope for the Catholic Church. Chaff out, wheat in.

We had 4 baptized and confirmed, and 2 more confirmed. In April, more will be confirmed, but I’m not sure how many…I think about a dozen.

Our parish had three candidates and two catechumens. The diocese had so many being received into the Church that they had to do two sessions of the Rite of Election/Call to
Continuing Conversion!
