16 year old son very cynical about God

Dear Friends, I could sure use some prayer and encouragement. My 16 year old son is very cynical about God, mass, and the Eucharist. He has been raised in a home where we pray daily, always go to mass - I read the Bible daily to the kids when we homeschooled for 4 years, and I’ve read them many books about the saints and Christian heros. With the help of the Holy Spirit, I try to model the life of a loving Christian. My son is extremely intelligent, and thinks he doesn’t need God.

I pray the rosary daily, and at every consecration of every mass I attend, I ask the Lord to draw my family closer tot he Church. His sisters and older brother are very devout. Any suggestions? Please pray.

I will definitely pray! I am the same age, and I know many kids similar to your son. Don’t cease to pray! And don’t forget St. Monica who prayed for the conversion of her son, St. Augustine, for years on end! God bless you! You sound like a wonderful mother!

Dear St. Monica,
troubled wife and mother,

Yet, you never despaired or lost faith.
With confidence, persistence, and profound faith,
you prayed daily for the conversion

You have my prayers but I am curious if there is a dad who is also faithful to the Church in your family as this is a big problem for boys…regardless, prayer and a strong faithful witness and love is what you can do. (and get others to pray also, which you are doing)
